 Date:2010.06.30   Publisher:Evergrande Group

Following the successful transfer of Zheng Zhi and Sun Xiang, Guangzhou Evergrande Football Club has accepted another new entrant. At a press conference held today to present the new entrant, the club announced that, Muriqui, a 24-year-old Brazilian forward, had signed a $3.5 million contract with the club to serve it for four years. This price has set a new record in the transfer fees for foreign players in the Chinese professional league.

Muriqui has always been deemed as a star of hope for Brazilian football and used to play for Atletico Mineiro, a strong team of Brazilian Serie A, as the core forward on the midfield. In the 7 league matches of Brazilian Series A that have been held so far this year, Muriqui contributed 4 goals to his team.

It is a mature mode of operation common in major European professional clubs to invest in the introduction of young players with growth value and appreciation space and share the benefits from their growth. The large amount that Evergrande has spent this time on introducing Muriqui is a direct embodiment of such mode and will also further promote the professionalism and market orientation of Chinese football.

With the joining of Muriqui, the efforts made by Evergrande in the summer to add new players to its team have drawn to a satisfactory close. During the lull of the league, Evergande has introduced Zheng Zhi, Sun Xiang, and Muriqui, thus fully enhancing the team in terms of its front field deterrence, midfield arrangement, and backfield defense.

It is learnt that, on July 17, Evergrande team will challenge the promoted Hubei Lvyin away from home. The fans will have an opportunity to witness the new lineup by then.
