Tsinghua, BRE and Evergrande signed a cooperation agreement in London

On October 21st (British local time), Tsinghua University, Building Research Establishment (BRE) and Evergrande Group signed a "Sino-British Sustainable Urbanization Research Platform Agreement" in London. This is one of the major cooperation results achieved by the two sides during President Xi Jinping’s state visit to Britain.

Chen Xu, director of Administrative Committee of Tsinghua University, Peter Bonfield, chief executive officer of Building Research Establishment (BRE) and Hui Ka Yan, chairman of Evergrande Group on behalf of the three parties signed the agreement.

According to the agreement, the international research platform under the cooperation between the three parties will carry out green building technology and sustainable urbanization research, and localize the leading regional and international related technologies and experience in China, to provide support for the next stage of China's "13th five-year" plan, green building and sustainable urbanization.

“This cooperation among the three parties signifies that the world's advanced green building technology will be effectively promoted and applied in China to accelerate the reform of China's building products and the process of new urbanization, for the benefit of the people.” said one insider.

According to relevant data, Tsinghua University is a famous institution of higher learning, whose disciplines closely related to urbanization such as civil engineering, water conservancy, architecture, and environment have a wide range of international influence. As the world's top building research institute, BRE has outstanding achievements in green building and sustainable urbanization development, and its environmental assessment method is the world's first and widely used green building assessment method.

On the signing day, Chinese President Xi Jinping who was paying a state visit to Britain and British Prime Minister David Cameron jointly attended the Sino-British Business Summit held in the City of London, and witnessed the signing of the Sino-British cooperation agreement before the summit. As one of the representatives of the Chinese and British business circles, Chairman Hui Ka Yan was invited to attend the summit.

On the same evening, Ya-Luen Yeh, Mayor of the City of London, held a grand ceremony and dinner party for Chinese President Xi Jinping in the Town Hall of the City of London. Chairman Hui Ka Yan and other representatives from all walks of life were invited to attend the dinner party.
